Is Diet Coke Keto Friendly?

The outcome to this test actually shocked me! As crazy as it sounds Diet Coke is Keto Friendly. I don’t know how many are too many but if its the one thing that keeps you on the Ketogenic Diet then by all means drink it!

The sweetener used in this products is Aspartame. Many people believe that Aspartame causes cancer, however it is not a fact. Drink at your own risk lol. But to be completely honest…sugar is the real cause of cancer. I’m not a doctor and that is my opinion.

  1. Diet coke doesn’t spike my blood sugars either. I’ve been drinking it since the 80’s and plan to continue drinking it. Love my Diet Coke!!!

  4. Some people said insulin released when taste buds receive sweet taste!!!
    So what do you thing when someone have a hypoglycemic coma and we give him any sweet to wakeup.
    If the insulin released according to taste buds, so in such situation the insulin will release and the glucose level go more down not elevated to normal.
    Therefore i think insulin level elevated according to level of glucose in blood.
    Just my opinion

  6. I’m 53 years old, former bodybuilder…i got old, worked out less, but kept eating heavy like i did when i was young and hitting the gym twice a day, every day…well…i got fat…lol. Carb depleting is nothing new to me…i did it when i was competing a looong time ago. i started KETO 68 days ago and went from 256 to 228. Its not terribly difficult for me except when the wife i and i wanna go out for an evening or go to a movie or even take a day and go to the park. Cant grab something from Burger King, cant really make sandwiches because i dont eat bread, cant have popcorn at the movies…you get what im saying.. Its hard to find a nice comfort food to eat on a day off when im on this diet. For the first 45 days i was on water only and super strict on foods. I got tired of just water, so, now, the ONLY thing i eat or drink that has been known to be outside the KETO diet is strawberries and Diet Coke. If i feel i need something sweet, i grab a few strawberries…when i want some other than the boring flavorless gallons of plain water i chug every day, i have a diet Coke. My weight loss has not slowed down one bit and i dont feel like im shorting myself or denying myself anymore. Lifes to short to be fat And its to short to Not enjoy something you want from time to time. I’ve used KETO strips and i’ve seen myself go "out of Keto" (so to speak)…. but my protein is so high and my carbs are still so low that my weight loss continues. I will say this…when i have Diet Coke….i DO feel bloated, thats the price i pay for that drink…otherwise, i’ve had no issues with it. That was just my 2 cents worth …i know, i rambled quite a bit.   7. I am not a scientist but I work in the healthcare community. Although the test shows no increase in blood sugar but actually a decrease in blood sugar that would indicate that there is an insulin response to the sweetness tasted in the mouth. his blood sugar dropped because the insulin started to mop up the sugar already in his blood. Correct me if I’m wrong but insulin is a storage hormone for fat. So anytime your insulin level is elevated your body is in storage mode. So keep in mind when the sugar gets elevated the problem exists because a bunch of insulin will be released to mop up the sugar. Which is the response you do not want elevated insulin when doing the keto diet. So the diet soda is not producing elevated sugar but elevated insulin. So that is why they say diet sodas can create cravings and hunger and actual weight gain because the insulin release lowers your blood sugar and makes you hungry to stabilize your blood sugar and blocks your body’s catabolism of fat. if you are drinking diet sodas all day your body is releasing insulin causing a metabolic roller coaster. I see that his ketones did not change but he was also not physically active using up the ketone so they may remain in the blood until he becomes physically active. I am uncertain of that. One might want to continue to research that for their long-term health benefits. Maybe the insulin released is negligible with a diet soda however I have no idea but something to consider possibly if your health is depending on this. Best wishes

  8. I hear artificial sweetners like sucralose and acesulfame (AceK) spike not blood glucose, but INSULIN. I find that hard to believe. Wish it was easier to track insulin level.

Question if the blood sugar actually goes down some does that indicate that the body produced insulin because of the sweet taste but there was no new sugar to deal with so took some of the sugar from the blood causing it to dip a little which would trigger hunger if the blood sugar actually drops some?

Less Blood Sugar after the coke means you had an insulin response, meaning, your pancreas secrete insuling to lower Blood Glucose, but of course 0% sugar beverages hace 0 in their glycemic index, is just that the taste buds "think" you are having something sweet and they tell the pancreas to create more insulin.
    Dont worry, a coke zero or diet cola will not make you fat, because there are no calories to store (its 0 calories after all).

  14. Why would you think diet coke ISN’T keto friendly?? If it has ZERO calories it is IMPOSSIBLE it would have any carbs.

  15. From your results I conclude that it’s ok occasionally to have Diet Coke on keto.
    But another thing I have been following researcher on Diet Coke can lower your satiety hormones when taken with junk food, so can make you over eat 👍🏼

  16. Let me tell my story doing keto carnivore or something like that just almost no carbs ok when I drink a diet coke I get this rush in my body and my brain goes a little wild I don’t get it from coffee. Does someone feels the same thing.

  18. Diet coke doesnt really mess with my numbers.
    Which specific sweetner is best for coffee? They keep putting stuff in them that effect my numbers! Alcohol, “natural flavors”, etc
