The Ideal Diet for Humans | Galit Goldfarb | TEDxWilmington

Galit Goldfarb begins with her own story — becoming bulimic as a teen, and determining to learn all she could about science and nutrition in college, and yet still not achieving health. She studied medical science, opening a clinic after her return. But everyone she treated felt better only in the short-term. She was also diagnosed with cancer. She began to learn all about human health, reading from all the scientific fields until she was able to understand the answer: the guerilla diet (food choices that fight back against everything she had learned!). Goldfarb takes us through ancient human history, demonstrating evidence of the earliest humans’ health and diet (living into their 70s and eating plants, nuts, fruits, and legumes) and how humans moved shortsightedly away from that diet. Cancer free (without radiation), her final argument is simple — while an “omnivore” diet may in the short term taste better, in the long term, it is unhealthy, not only for us but for our planet.

Galit Goldfarb has worked within the health field for over 22 years. While working in different research laboratories and with many private clients, Galit has written eight books in the fields of health and personal development, including #1 International Bestseller “The Guerrilla Diet & Lifestyle Program” based on her in-depth research into the ideal diet for humans. Galit is a Professional member of the American Nutrition Association, and the American Society for Nutrition, and holds a BSc (honours) in Biochemistry and Nutrition, an MSc in Medical Science with Distinction, and studied Immunology for a Post Graduate Certificate.   1. What a moron. The fact people have the nearly the same DNA does not prove everyone has the same food needs. And the fact humanity ate a certain way 100,000 years ago is not proof it is (or ever was) the best way to eat. For example, only very recently has humanity had the luxury of being able to eat an infinite ranges of foods (not local and not locally in season). The richest European King of 200 years ago rarely saw a pineapple, for example. The best science has figured out (and it’s not much) is fruits and vegetables are good, cooking is good (releases more nutrients than it destroys, usually) but frying is bad, and don’t eat too much, and have some diversity in what you eat which modern life allows. But even that is subject to debate — and easier said then done — despite INFINITE opinions and studies.

  2. Am I the only one finding it questionable that she is saying "she followed the diet and is now cancer free, without the radiation that was RECOMMENDED to her" ? Yes she is saying it’s her personal experience, but she is talking about a medical issue and how she solved it with food INSTEAD of doing what a doctor recommended… WHat she did isn’t bad in general but its risky to do but specially risky to tell people that she went against a recommendation by someone who studied and told her whats best for her, just because she read about the best diet, followed it and had a good outcome… I wonder, if she had this talk if she didnt get rid of the cancer cause of the food… since she is using her experience not as as an example but as proof.

  3. Wrong, wrong and wrong. Most fruits, vegetables and such looked nothing like what they do today even just 10,000yrs ago. Many were poisonous and have been selectively cultivated over the last 10k years to give us what can feed us today. Also, biologically our bodies evolved to be far less capable of digesting plant based food and more efficient in digesting animal based food. Lastly, our brains are huge calorie burning organs. We could only consume the amount of energy we need from animal foods. Period.

  5. Stop eating 6 times a day! Avoid sugar and wheat. Fast 18 hours, then eat 2 good meals during the 6 remaining hours

  9. This is why all babies need to be breastfed. No one talks about how important this is. There is a biofeedback loop between baby’s saliva and mother’s milk ducts. Baby tells mom what nutrients she needs to eat during each feeding.

  10. I believe that humans are meat eaters by nature and vegetable eaters. Also I believe that man originally didn’t eat every day.. maybe two are 3 times a week instead of two or three times per day or more like 8 or 9 .. I’m no doctor or scientist… just an observation of what or how early man would eat before agriculture. Also the world is a big place with many different regions.. so the diet may very based on where at and the season and so on. That doesn’t exactly make it healthy just that was the way people ate. Also I know for a fact that early man did eat Insects and other things that most modern people would not.

    Believe in God or not…the most successful, strongest, highest I.Q.s, longest living people, most/highest libido, etc etc.. .ate ALL CARNIVORES.
    End of story…sciences prove this, anecdotal testimony proves this…. on and on and on.
    Wheat grains especially….are killing us.
    Sugar shld be made Universally illegal to mankind.
    This woman had "a nice pair",…but she’ll die of something like a heart attack, Alzheimers, or some other metabolic disease…without carnivore predominance. Cute though.

  12. What I’ve realised is that everyone is individual when it comes to their diet. Some people struggle to digest meat, some struggle with fibre, and then you have people who can’t eat nightshades, and a big percentage who are gluten and lactose intolerant. There are lots of different reasons for this. I know some of the GMO grown crops like peanuts have been directly linked to why some folks suffer severe allergies. There is also the chemicals we spray on plants and also things like grain fed animals that are contributing to the inflammation we are having. Toxic levels of heavy metals in certain marine species. Mankind messes around with nature too much. Whole, organic, tamper-free food seems to be the way forward, be it animals or plants. Vegans are more prone to deficiencies, especially in zinc, iron and b12. Also there is not one single study worldwide, that proves consuming organic, grass-fed meat contributes to ill-health. The same goes for pasture-raised, organic eggs. People who eat more natural fats are satiated longer, leading to less hunger cravings/vitamin deficiencies. I’ve studied food for quite a while now, and I’m certain high consumption of grains and sugar is inflammatory, even the wholegrains spike blood sugars hugely. The lady doesn’t mention ketones once, and that her choices on food are greener, more environment friendly orientated. This immediately heightens my suspicions on the narrative they are pushing for the green agenda. This basically stems down from the World Economic Forum – a bunch of anti-humane oligarchs who have their communistic finger in every pie. Their lobbying, propaganda and ‘philanthropy’ have reached insane levels, and only those with their morals intact that can resist the monetary gains to be had, are creditable sources of information. She is either a shill for the narrative, or vastly under-researched.

  13. She presented no evidence of the best diet for humans. She also presented no evidence of what the ancient diet was. Other studies showed that every human has a different ideal diet and the difference between what is best for us is not in our DNA but in the DNA of our microbiome. Moreover, when they calculate the best diet for a particular biome the biome adjusts to the diet and becomes stronger. Some diabetics can eat ice cream while it will make other diabetics have dangerously high glucose levels for example. The difference is in their biome.

  14. She had me when mentioning our evolutionary past but lost me when she mentioned the bible as a source of truth. We know now that protein and animal fats and vegetable fats are the answer, not starch and sugar.

  18. meanwhile, back in mongolia, and africa, they continue to drink milk, mixed with fresh blood, and the meat ofanimals, and these tribes look very healthy. i think she,s a typical veggy,and probably never done a hard days work in her life.

  20. Poor lady, still lost in her own understanding (and took forever to get to her point). We’ve eaten MEAT for thousands of years, not grass and greens. Meat is the answer!

  23. Avoid added sugar/corn syrup, gluten/white flour, vegetable oils, and ljmit dairy. Eat lots of protein (from BOTH plants and animals), prebiotic fiber, healthy fats (omega 3 ALA, DHA, EPA and omega 6 GLA)

  25. Red meat, fish and egg’s are the real superfoods and always was no matter what BS the Grass eaters try to sell you. We we’re hunter gatherers, we preferred to catch meat but gathered when we couldn’t

  26. Agree with most of this, except where she completely dismisses the fact that we we need animal proteins. Plant proteins are inadequate.

  27. Eat meat 🥩 and heal your body, cut out everything else’ that’s the proper human diet. You can have some veg if you want but it’s not necessary!

  28. Plants, gluten, grains and nuts are toxic and will age you faster. Meat based is the way to go. Carnivore and proud. Plants are trying to kill you. The vegan or vegetarian diet is not healthy for anyone. There are many former vegans that are now carnivore. Substantially raised meats and raw dairy are the way to health. Do not buy into the plant mantra. They are not healthy for anyone with all the human carcinogens in them.
